In 1990, he entered the emerging field of prefabrication in Turkey alongside his university friend Turan Koçyiğit, co-founding Vefa Prefabricated Structures. Over time, Vefa has evolved with the addition of companies and brands operating in diverse fields.
Orhan Güner has played a pivotal role in introducing various brands, innovative products, and technologies to the prefabricated and lightweight steel construction sector. Currently overseeing brand management, product design, P&D, R&D, projects, and investments at Vefa, he collaborates with multiple universities on sectoral projects. With a founding trustee role at the Gebze Technical University Technical Education Foundation and active involvement in notable non-governmental organizations, Orhan Güner is dedicated to pushing the boundaries of the prefabricated building sector. He is also an accredited angel investor.
Orhan Güner's impact extends to pioneering the establishment of the first academy dedicated to the prefabricated building sector, focusing on training engineers, architects, and technical staff. He has led publications to be prepared on building systems within this academy, including the groundbreaking Lightweight Steel Architectural Detail book, which marks a first in the sector with its non-welded construction technology, studied according to four different regions of Turkey. Güner also commercialized the composite panels used in this sector for the first time in the world, which he prepared as his master's thesis, with the Neopan brand and launched the panel line, revolutionizing the sector in terms of cost and speed. In collaboration with the academia, Orhan Güner developed and implemented Turkey's first self-sustaining ecological house in passive house standard– a milestone in construction.
